Job Overview

Lyon-Martin is looking for a Comprehensive Patient Support Associate to join our dynamic, change-oriented team. This position will have the unique opportunity to work as an integral part of a skilled support staff team, providing team-based primary care services.

About the Position

All Comprehensive Patient Support Associates work collaboratively as part of a team consisting of talented and dedicated primary care providers, medical assistants, mental health providers, patient care coordinators, and registered nurses to provide patients with comprehensive quality healthcare that addresses both biomedical and psychosocial needs. The Comprehensive Patient Support Associate (CPSA) is the primary point of contact for patients, and a crucial part of providing direct service. You will welcome patients, assist patient in enrolling in health insurance coverage, and connect them with the comprehensive services that Lyon-Martin offers.

Key Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include providing excellent customer service, actively engaging in coordinating clinic flow, and ensuring patients are enrolled in any health benefit coverage for which they are eligible. CPSAs are members of the Front Office staff and are responsible for checking patients in and out for appointments verifying insurance coverage, and contacting patients prior to appointments to confirm health and insurance information. You will work closely with members of other teams, coordinating the dynamic schedule to best suit patient needs and maintain efficient patient-care flow.

The CPSA also acts as the first line of problem-solving within the team, actively engaging in assessing how to increase departmental efficiency and satisfaction.  They are expected to provide all patient care in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner, to maintain a high degree of professional competence and the highest possible ethical standards, and to function as part of a care-giving team.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Experience working with homeless, mentally ill, and substance using patients.
  • Experience working with populations with varying lifestyles, ages, sexual orientations, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, gender variances, and economic status.
  • Experience working with lesbian, bisexual and transgender patients.
  • Prior medical office experience preferred.

Personal Characteristics, Skills and Abilities:

  • Intelligent and warm with excellent listening skills and a strong fund of knowledge
  • Fluent or bilingual in Spanish a huge plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinic environment

Compensation: $16-$16.50/hr
